Hello, I’m Stephen Leslie, pleased to meet you!

I’m a marketing expert who has worked across the energy, financial services and property industries for more than 20 years.

After many years working as a Marketing Manager for a successful Wellington-based property company, I launched The Perfect Angle in September 2008. We are a strategic marketing consultancy providing a combination of strategic advice, communications planning, copywriting and contract marketing support.

Over the course of my career I’ve worked for multi-national and national organisations, medium and small businesses, and also a number of Government Agencies. The many roles I have held have provided me with a unique combination of analytical, creative and sales experience - something that enables me to “get” all sides of an issue.

I’m a good researcher and a great listener - I find these skills help me to quickly slot into a new industry/organisation and begin to add value immediately.

I’ve collected many qualifications, but the most relevant are the: Bachelor of Business Studies (Marketing) from Massey University, and Certificate in Direct Marketing (Merit) from the New Zealand Direct Marketing Association.

I hate waffle and corporate spin - I like to get to the point, but in a relaxed way. I also enjoy a good laugh. I like to think it’s a very Kiwi attitude. That’s how I approach life, and that’s how I approach business. But that doesn’t mean I take my work lightly - far from it.

I have a reputation for blending marketing theory and corporate process with an instinctive “gut feel” for the client and their specific needs. My aim is always to create practical marketing solutions that deliver real results.

My guiding principle is to develop communications that “talk” with people in their language. At the end of the day it’s about respecting their needs and showing you actually give a damn. Do that and you’re on your way to building lasting, profitable relationships.

Personal Stuff

From a personal perspective, I’m married to an amazing, slightly crazy lady (she must be, she married me after all!) and am the proud father of 4 rather good looking, extremely talented kids (of course).

Living on the Kapiti Coast is awesome - when I get the chance you’ll find me running along the beach (it’s often when I have my best ideas). On really special occasions you might find me playing golf.

I love my family, I’m quite fond of my friends (most of the time!), and I’m passionate about New Zealand, sport, coffee, reading, photography and travel.
